Dr Geetha Kanaparan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at Xiamen University Malaysia where she has been a faculty member since 2019. Geetha is currently teaching Requirements Engineering and Algorithm Analysis and Design. Geetha completed her PhD at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and her MSc and BSc at a UK-based higher educational institution. Her research interests lie in the area of programming behavior, educational technologies, agile development and the application of AR/VR technology. She has collaborated actively with researchers by serving as a track co-chair for an internationally recognized Information Systems (IS) related conference, paper reviewer for several IT and IS related conferences, served as an editor of an IT-related newsletter, and is an external co-supervisor of a PhD in Technology student. Geetha has more than 20 years of teaching and training experience, and more than 10 years of managerial experience. She has taught and trained adults in a range of Software Engineering (SE) and Information Systems (IS) related courses at the tertiary level. She is also highly skilled in academic regulations and quality processes, and has managed a department of more than 50 academics. Geetha’s significant achievements in recent years include: interviewed on National TV on digital technology courses in Malaysia, securing a Research Grant for MYR25,000, awarded the Kit Dampney Best Education Paper prize and selected as a finalist in the 2011 Google Anita Borg scholarship.
