Dr. Samir M. Ismail, is Professor of Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering at Alexandria University. He has a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Alexandria, and received his Ph.D. from Montana State University in Irrigation Engineering in 1984. He is a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and Misr Society of Agricultural Engineering.
He has been a consultant locally and internationally on water management and irrigation development issues for numerous private companies and public agencies, with responsibilities over system selection, design, construction, maintenance, crop water requirements, irrigation scheduling, and management recommendations for the irrigation of more than 5,000 feddans of intensive crop production in desert farms. He is the author of more than 50 technical papers, 30 consulting and technical reports, 6 textbooks, and 15 extension bulletins in the field of irrigation.
