Introduction

The majority of cities in the modern world struggle with issues including poor urban infrastructure, traffic congestion, environmental deterioration, and a shortage of essential services like waste management, sanitation, and water supply. In addition to addressing everyone's basic requirements and fostering economic progress, a sustainable city should provide sustainable living conditions to all of its residents. A city is ideally considered sustainable if it establishes a long-lasting style of life in each of the four areas: ecology, economy, politics, and culture. A sustainable city, also known as an eco-city or green city, is one that is planned to take into account the social, economic, and environmental effects of a city, as well as to provide a resilient home for the current population without compromising the chances of future generations having the same experiences. The need for sustainable cities is growing day by day, and that is why IEREK is planning to continue the conversation in the second edition of its “Sustainable Cities Summit” conference.

Constructing sustainable cities is not always an easy task. There are a lot of factors that need to be considered. Urban planning, environmental integration, and conservation- whether it be heritage or biodiversity conservation- are among the most important building blocks to building sustainable cities. The conference will handle topics including urban planning and design for sustainability, which will dive deeper into the ideas of sustainable urban development strategies, green infrastructure and urban design, and smart city initiatives for sustainability. The conference will also discuss topics such as resilient and inclusive communities, how to form these communities, and the helping factors needed to form them including clean energy, urban design, and infrastructure.

Conference Scope

The Sustainable Cities Summit will cover a wide range of topics that are crucial to building sustainable cities. From addressing climate change and promoting renewable energy to enhancing urban mobility and ensuring equitable access to resources, we will explore the key pillars of sustainable urban development. You will have the chance to hear different perspectives regarding subjects like circular economy, waste management, green infrastructure, smart cities, and much more. In addition to the valuable insights gained, the Sustainable Cities Summit (SCS) conference offers exceptional networking opportunities. Connect with professionals, pioneers, and idealists who are at the forefront of sustainable urban development. Forge partnerships, exchange experiences, and explore potential collaborations that can drive real-world impact.

Statement of Purpose

About SLNR

Sustainable Landscape Planning and Natural Resources Management (SLNR) is a peer-reviewed book series that presents groundbreaking research through the intersection of two main areas that of which are ‘Sustainable Landscape Planning’ and ‘Natural Resources Management’. The series initially covers a wide range of academic disciplines in sustainability, including landscape ecology, green urbanism, urban regeneration, land restoration and renaturation, energy management, and nature conservation. Moreover, it also incorporates the latest developments and research in engineering topics that contribute to more sustainable cities, such as Geosciences, infrastructure, civil engineering, geology, mining, water, and natural resources conservation and management.
