Here we finally arrive to the top two on our top 10 greenest cities in the world list, the cities are:
- Bristol, southwest England:
Bristol has been crowned UK’s and Europe’s greenest city coming in front of Ljubljana, Glasgow, Brussels and even the previously crowned, Nantes.
Though many people don’t know Bristol as a destination to be visited, this latest position it gained on the list of greenest cities, it’s expected that it will attract more people to it.
- Reykjavik, Iceland
Reykjavik, Iceland comes on the top of the list of the top greenest cities list. One of the most distinctive things of this city is that is it have a unique culture and people of its own.
The city is rich with geothermal activities that can be transformed into a clean energy source making it, virtually, runs completely on renewable energy with only 0.1% of fossil fuel used to generate electricity, a percentage which no city has reached before.
So generally the city generates most of its electricity and other energy sources from geothermal activities and hydro-power. And it is meant to be completely dependent on this kind of renewable energy and be fossil fuel free by the year 2050.
All this makes the city on the top of the list of the 10 greenest cities in 2015 and have it a great destination to be visited by many people around the world.
