Ongoing Conference: Conservation of Architectural Heritage (CAH) – 2nd Edition
Conservation of Architecture Heritage:
In the second edition of the International Conference on Conservation of Architectural Heritage, participants and attendees are enjoying an enlightening academic journey aboard one of the most luxurious Nile Cruisers that roam the Nile waters. Along with the ceremony and sessions presenting the latest research in the field, participants are experiencing architectural heritage themselves in the various heritage visits that are scheduled in Luxor and Aswan.
On the first day of this academic and entertainment filled journey, all the attendees started off their day roaming the corridors of the legendary Karnak and Luxor Temples of Egypt. The Karnak temple is the second largest open religious site in the world while the temple of Luxor is known as one of Egypt’s most mesmerizing sites. While Examining the detailed architecture and learning about ancient Egyptian history, scholars from around the world came together to discuss how a marvelous complex like Karnak can possibly be conserved and rehabilitated to endure the centuries to come.
After those long sought out trips to the temples and lunch, participants attended the conference’s opening session in the presence of IEREK’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mourad Amer, Dr. Nabil Khelifi, Senior Editor in the MENA region in Springer, Dr. Douglas Comer, principal of Cultural Site Research and Management and former president of ICOMOS-ICAHM, and Dr. Maria Luisa Germanà, Msc Arch. PhD. Associate Professor of Architectural Technology and of Environmental Design at Palermo University, Department of Architecture on the panel.
Dr. Douglas Comer also gave an illuminating presentation on culture and architectural heritage after an introductory speech given by the General Director of IEREK, Dr. Abdulaziz Saqr.

Next edition of CAH international conference
Following the great success achieved in CAH-2nd Edition, IEREK, in collaboration with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Benha University, and The Supreme Council of Antiquities organizing Conservation of Architectural Heritage (CAH) – Regeneration & Management – 3rd Edition which will be held in Aswan, Egypt from the 19th to the 21st of February 2019.
